(n.) a thunderbolt

Weather words always prove popular on Haggard Hawks, and this one is a doozy: a dinderex is a thunderbolt.
Dinderex is a word listed in the English Dialect Dictionary (among a handful of other regional English dictionaries), most of which etymologically connect this word to dinder—a term for thunder once used in the far southwest corner of England. A dinderhead, ultimately, is a clumsy, foolhardy person—while a dinderex is quite literally a ‘thunder-axe’.
